mHealth Apps to Grow to $1.3bn in 2012, says research2guidance

The market for mobile healthcare apps will reach $1.3bn (£823m) in 2012, nearly doubling from $718m in 2011, according to the research2guidance's Mobile Health Market Report 2011-2016. This figure includes revenue from downloads, in-app ads, direct transactions and sensor sales. According to the report, the number of mHealth app users will reach 247m in 2012.

Despite this growth, research2 guidance argues, the mHealth market is still in an embryonic state, especially when compared to the $6 trillion global healthcare market.
