Food Network brings video recipes to the Amazon Echo Show

Food Network has updated its Alexa skill for the Amazon Echo Show, the version of Alexa that comes with a screen. Users just need to ask a natural language question, such as: “Alexa, ask Food Network for chicken parmigiana recipes; Alexa, whats on Food Network now?” Or “Alexa, ask Food Network for vegan mushroom recipes,” and the Echo Show will display the response to the question on the screen. Users can then browse through Alexas top picks for their search, select their recipe, and view a video of the recipe being made.

Food Network’s original Alexa skill enabled users to ask Alexa for recipes from the Food Network, which would then be emailed to them. The Show skill also includes the option to have recipes sent via email.

“With a simple question, the Food Network skill for Alexa helps customers find and use trusted recipes from their favorite chefs and programs,” said Liesel Kipp, vice president of product management at Scripps Lifestyle Studios, the digital division of Scripps Networks Interactive that handles Food Networks digital ventures. “The visual and video components will provide consumers with more information to help them make better and quicker cooking decisions and adds an entertaining aspect to their recipe browsing.”
