ibm designIBM has been on something of a shopping spree, acquiring three digital marketing agencies within the space of a seven days as the company seeks to strengthen its digital commerce and customer platform solution capabilities that it offers to firms seeking digital transformations.

The latest acquisition is Ecx.io, a leading full service digital agency based in Dusseldorf, which will become part of IBM Interactive Experience (IBM iX), the companys digital agency offering. The firm will combine its capabilities and portfolio (which includes Axaltra, Spar and JAB Enstoetz) with IBMs existing offerings, broadening the scope and depth that the computing giant offers.

“For the last 20 years, weve fostered an open, agile and collaborative culture with a dedication to quality and innovation,” said Christoph Mause, CCO and co-founder of Ecx.io. “Joining forces with IBM iX will provide us with a global network of talent with expertise in strategy, analytics, cognitive computing and innovation that will not only compliment our services offerings, but allow them to become more personalised.”

“The customer experience has become a new priority in modern business strategy,” said Paul Papas, global leader for IBM iX. “Together with Ecx.ios distinctive expertise, were raising the bar for experience-led digital marketing and commerce.”

Last week, IBM iX announced its intent to acquire the US-based digital marketing and creative agency Resource/Ammirati, while earlier today it revealed it would be acquiring another German firm, the Berlin-based Aperto, which specialises in cross-channel marketing.

IBM iX has also announced the opening of new design studios in Prague, Warsaw and Dubai, with the aim of providing digital agency delivery to a wider range of global clients, and plans to continue investment in new capabilities, skills and talent.
