Age-rated Mobile Games Launch

Games retailer GAME Stores Group has teamed up with mobile games retailer MAD4Games to offer a range of quality-approved Java games direct to customers via the GAME.Net website. Uniquely, each mobile game will be supplied with an age certification, providing guidance to consumers to help them decide whether or not to buy a product.
The ratings are:
3+: Basic rating.
12+: General violent themes.
16+: Bloody violent themes and/or minor bad language.
18+: Extreme violence and/or sexual content and/or heavy use of bad language. All gambling games will be rated 18+.
35 titles will be available initially, ranging from classics such as Solitaire to Sonic the Hedgehog Part One. Customers can filter their search for games by handset type to ensure complete compatibility when purchasing a game. The games are delivered to the customers handset in the form of a text message, and are billed direct to the users handset. Games cost 3 each.
New titles will be added every week, and there will also be a Top 10 chart to enable customers to keep up with the most popular releases.

By being the first in the industry to label our mobile phone games with age ratings, we are raising awareness amongst both consumers and the industry of the importance of these restrictions says Kieron Smith, Head of Online Operations at GAME. It also gives parents the confidence that the content of these games are suitable for their children and that they come from a reputable retailer.
To celebrate the tie-up, GAME is offering customers who download their first game a 3 voucher, redeemable against any product from the GAME.Net website, so long as they spend over 6 in a single transaction, though the offer does not include the purchase of mobile games.
