Burger King Promotes Android App with Free Phones

BK_Android_headerBurger King is supporting the US launch of its mobile coupon app  for Android by offering free Android phones to consumers.

The promotion offers consumers a variety of Android models from AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless, in return for signing up for a new two-year activation or upgrade.

In addition to mobile coupons, the app includes a restaurant finder, menu with nutritional information and mobile payment system in selected locations.

“Weve been testing the app locally for a few months, but today is the national launch,” said Samuel Heath, director of revenue management and pricing at Burger King, in a statement to Mobile Commerce Daily. “This is the first national release of the app and coupons. The goal is to get people to download and install the app on their phones. The free smartphone promotion gives people who dont already have a smartphone access to the app and coupons.

“It will take a while to build, but we hope this will attract a new type of customer, a younger generation thats more tech savvy, to come into our restaurants.”
