EE Q3 Stats Reveal 4G Growth

EE logoMobile operator EE has released its Q3 results, revealing turnover of £1.59bn and operating revenue of £1.52bn.
EE grew its 4G customer base by 1.4m during the quarter to reach 5.6m, which it notes is a quarterly record for the number of net ads, and gives it the biggest 4G base of any operator in Europe.

The company added 178,000 postpaid (contract) subscriptions during the quarter, though only 119,000 of these were people, the rest accounted for by M2M (Machine-to-Machine) connections. Over 82 per cent of new postpaid customers selected 4G, and of these, a third opted for double speed 4GEE Extra tariffs. 60.3 per cent of EE’s customers are now on contract-based plans, and the operator has 6,203 corporate accounts using 4G.

EE’s 4G coverage now extends to over 75 per cent of the UK, and 30 per cent of all 4G data traffic is accounted for by social media, driven by growth in embedded video, with Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, iTunes and Twitter the most popular apps over 4G. Pay monthly churn for the quarter stood at 1.1 per cent, the 14th consecutive quarter at or below 1.2 per cent.
