Infospace Makes Wired 40 list

Infospace, a leading US provider of mobile content, applications and infrastructure, has been ranked  No. 20 spot on the Wired 40 list of the worlds most innovative companies, The companies named on Wired 40 were cited for their “strategic vision, global reach, killer technology, hunger for new ideas and an impatience to put them into practice.”
In its July 2006 issue, Wired said of the company:
“Legal and technical complexities discourage wireless carriers from offering mobile games, news, sports, maps, etc. Enter InfoSpace, a dot-bust survivor that packages content for cell phones. Traffic is going one way: up.”

Founded in 1996, the company leverages its online and mobile assets to potentially reach more than 90% of mobile subscribers in North America through partnerships with operators such as Cingular Wireless, Sprint Nextel, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, and Virgin Mobile. The companys mobile portal services are also available to more than 60% of the US market.
