iOS 8 App Store Bug Puts Gambling and Dating Apps in Kids Section

Baby child toddler on phoneApple introduced a Kids section to its App Store last autumn, with the launch of iOS 7. Its a great idea, and a way of helping parents guide their children towards appropriate content – at least, thats the theory.

9toMac has reported that an iOS 8 bug is currently causing the most popular apps in all categories to appear within the section and its age-specific sub-categories (which go as young as five and under).

This means that young users are potentially being presented with much more adult-orientated apps than they should be – 9to5Macs screenshot shows dating app Zoosk and gambling apps including Slotomania, and a look at the UK store also shows inappropriate titles like Kill Shot and Tindr .

Apple is apparently aware of the bug, and is presumably working to fix it.
