Kabam and Alibaba Group Team up to Bring Mobile Games to China

hobbit game screensFree-to-play game developer Kabam has entered into a strategic collaboration with Alibaba Group to publish their games in China across Alibabas mobile applications, including Mobile Taobao and Laiwang.

The collaboration, which will also see Kabam receiving an investment of around $120m (£71m) from Alibaba Group, was announced at ChinaJoy, Asias top digital entertainment expo, which was keynoted by Kabams CEO Kevin Chou.

Among the games Kabam will release through Alibabas channels include Kingdoms of Camelot: Battle for the North, The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth, Fast & Furious 6: The Game and Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon.

“Truly successful games companies have to be globally successful,” said Chou. “This strategic collaboration with Alibaba provides Kabam the resources, infrastructure and distribution to help bring our current and future durable franchise games to China and elsewhere in Asia and make an immediate impact.”
