Kawasaki: “Mobile apps are one of the fastest growing areas driving cloud usage and adoption”

Enterprise mobility firm Kony has launched new versions of its Kony MobileFabric solution in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, including a free Developer Edition.

Kony said that by making these new offerings available in AWS Marketplace, the cost and complexity of mobile app development is significantly reduced. Developers can use open mobile developer frameworks and tools of choice, and use Amazon Web Services to rapidly provision and scale their backend mobile infrastructure.

“Mobile apps are one of the fastest growing areas driving cloud usage and adoption,” said Burley Kawasaki, senior vice president, products and strategy at Kony. “As more developers are targeting to build mobile and IoT apps on AWS, they can benefit from using Kony MobileFabric to address their entire backend infrastructure needs, while also giving them the freedom to develop their mobile front-end with support for iOS, Android, Windows, HTML5/JavaScript and PhoneGap development styles. With support for the new API management capabilities of AWS, Kony MobileFabric now enables any mobile app to take advantage of and reuse web services reliably, securely and at scale.”

The Kony MobileFabric solutions available in AWS Marketplace include MobileFabric Developer, Express, Standard and Professional. MobileFabric Developer is a free developer edition providing an extensive set of mobile backend services, including identity, integration, orchestration, messaging and offline data sync. This is a fully featured version of Kony MobileFabric that will run on a single node on AWS for development or production environments.

MobileFabric Express is a subscription-based edition, which triples the amount of capacity available for mobile applications and their backend services. This will run on a single node on AWS for development or production environments.

MobileFabric Standard provides a fully-managed backend infrastructure service, with high availability and automatic scale-out, along with a 99.95 per cent service level agreement (SLA). This will run as a multi-node configuration on AWS for development or production environments.

Finally, MobileFabric Professional provides a managed service with the same availability, scale and SLA as Standard edition, but also increases the number of applications that can be supported concurrently. It also adds LOB integration adapters, campaign management and mobile analytics. This will run as a multi-node configuration on AWS for development or production environments.
