MatchPint Secures £1m Investment

Matchpint 2MatchPint, a tech platform that connects sports fans, pubs and brands, has secured a £1m Series A investment, led by 24 Haymarket, a London-based angel investment syndicate of investment professionals and industry entrepreneurs with strong credentials in the leisure, drinks and technology verticals.

Matchpint has over 2,000 pubs representing many of the UK’s leading pub companies like Stonegate, Greene King, Fuller’s, Enterprise Inns, and Punch Taverns in its network. The pubs pay a recurring subscription fee to appear in search results when sports fans use the Matchpint app or website to find out which pubs close to them are showing a given game. Matchpint also sells its audience of around 250,000 sports fans each month to advertisers looking to engage with them while in the pub, using MatchPint’s vouchering and promotional mechanic. Advertisers include major drinks brands such as Diageo, Heineken, and Carlsberg.

The majority of the investment will be used to increase marketing and operations spend in order to scale MatchPint’s presence across the UK and Ireland with the remainder earmarked for an ‘innovation fund’.

This pot will be used to drive new product development and explore further revenue streams, whilst trials are being put in place across Europe and East Asia to assess the best methods for international expansion.

A new CTO, hired to build MatchPint’s new in-house development team, has already been appointed whilst the first of a team of account managers, dealing with the growing number of pub and drinks companies working with MatchPint, will start next week.
