Tom Malleschitz Becomes Chief Digital Officer at Three
UK mobile network operator Three has created a new role for Tom Malleschitz, currently its chief marketing officer. Malleschitz will become chief digital officer, responsible for maximising the opportunity to strength and grow the companys digital products and serrvices.

Malleschitz joined Three UK, the Hutchinson Whampoa-owned network, over five years ago, and helped change the brand position from cheap pricing and low quality to a customer-led proposition that aims to knock down barriers and change the mobile industry for the better.

Responsibility for marketing operations at Three UK will be managed in the interim by Lianne Norry, director of brand and communications, and Marsha Lenihan, director of strategy and insights, until a new CMO is appointed.

SpotX Expands Publisher Team for UK and Southern Europe
Video management platform SpotX has announced that Marta Lopez will be joining the company from AudienceScience to serve as account manager for UK and Southern Europe. Holly Waylen from Arcadia and Mike Lampard are also coming aboard the team, as the firm aims to grow its platform services offering.

The team will be responsible for working with an increasing base of supply-side customers in the UK and across Southern Europe, supporting them with ad serving, yield management and a range of programmatic revenue optimisation tools.

“Marta Lopez has excellent experience gained from working on both the buy and supply side of our industry that will give her invaluable insights for our publishers to help them increase their advertising revenue,” said Ed Wale, director of platform services for UK and Southern Europe at SpotX. “Holly and Mike bring strong analytic skills and business acumen from their backgrounds in merchandising and content creation.”

New Head of Programmatic Named at The Bridge
The Bridge, the commercial arm of News UK, has unveiled Ian Hocking as its head of programmatic, a newly created role that will support the firms renewed focus on working with advertising partners to implement programmatic campaigns across its digital properties.

Hocking joins from Ad2One, where he was eBays head of agency and programmatic sales, and as head of programmatic, he will support News UKs new focus on its digital strategy. He will work as part of the new Strategy and Partnerships department to build relationships with key agencies and clients, and deliver advertising product strategy.

“This appoint is a sign that were open for business for agencies and clients that want to run their campaigns programmatically,” said Dom Carter, chief commercial officer at News UK. “Weve got unique and in-depth data about our readers that enable us to offer an unparalleled level of targeting within an influential and engaged audience.”

Verve Appoints Mary Baglivo to Board of Directors
Former CEO of Saatchi & Saatchis American office Mary Baglivo has become the first independent director on the board for location-powered mobile marketing firm Verve. Baglivo currently serves as chief marketing officer and vice president of global marketing at Northwestern University.

“Mary provides unique perspective to the Verve board,” said Tom Kenney, CEO at Verve. “In addition to her deep experience at the helm of one of the worlds leading agencies, she also brings thought leadership on next generation marketing from Northwestern, one of the most respected schools in this discipline.”

During her tenure at Saatchi & Saatchi, Baglivo worked with clients including P&G, General Mills and Toyota, and added new accounts including Miller Brewing, JC Penney, Chase Sapphire, Lenovo and Ameriprise. Her former leadership rooles also include president at Havas Arnold Worldwide, CEO at Panoramic Communications and chief operating officer at J. Walter Thompson.

OpenX Hires Former Apple Specialist as Senior Director of Buyer Development
Programmatic advertising leader OpenX has revealed its new senior director of buyer development in EMEA in the form of Charlie McGee, the former head of UK sales and agency partnerships at iAd, Apples mobile ad platform.

McGee also served as managing director of Carat Digital, which achieved billings of over £100m under his leadership. At OpenX, he will be responsible for establishing and managing relationships with agencies and clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“Im delighted to join OpenX at such an exciting time for the company,” said McGee. “Interest in programmatic advertising is soaring, and I look forward to helping OpenX continue to develop its commitment to quality, innovation and transparency.”
