Orange Claims Advertising First

Orange  is claiming to be the first UK operator to make a major move into advertising on mobiles. The network has been working with a number of brands including Jaguar, Peugeot, Xbox Xbox and United International Pictures, and since the start of the week, each has had its interactive banner ads featured on different pages of the Orange World portal.
Initially, the ads will be seen across four devices, including phones from Nokia, Motorola and Samsung. Customers using these four devices represent over 20% of Orange World usage, and will allow Orange to collate the data on which to base an advertising proposition and model.  For advertisers, the trial will test what banners and offers work best on portal, as well as gaining a valuable insight into customer demographics and recall. Oranges believe this will have a major impact on the way brands will engage with their target audiences in the future.
