Local advertising and search company Poynt has partnered with Indian media conglomerate Times Internet Limited (TIL) to produce timesPoynt, a location-aware app.
timesPoynt is powered by information from Timescity.com, the TIL website that provides city guides to Indian locations. It allows users to discover local restaurants, events, cinemas and weather information, as well as offering click-to-call for businesses, directions, and sharing facilities.
The app will be monetised through the TIL's existing relationships in India with advertisers.
"Launching our app in one of the largest mobile markets in the world with the dominant media company in the country provides Poynt with an unprecedented opportunity to drive revenue growth and user adoption through timesPoynt," says Andrew Osis, president and CEO of Poynt. "The timesPoynt app further solidifies Poynt Corp. as a world-class leader in the delivery of mobile local search and advertising."
Rishi Khiani, CEO of TIL says: "Timescity.com is growing aggressively on the web and we are now moving to the mobile space. Launching the app across all major smartphone platforms, we will leverage mobile to bring value to our users, merchants and advertisers."
The timesPoynt app is available now for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Nokia devices.
