Snapchat rolls out its AI-powered chatbot to entire 750m user base

Every Snapchatter in the world is about to get the chance to make a new friend: the companys AI-powered chatbot.

Social giant Snap just wrapped its fifth annual Partner Summit, and arguably its biggest announcement was rolling out its My AI chatbot globally.

My AI, powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology, lets users ask all types of questions: from getting the answer to a piece of trivia to finding the perfect gift to planning a trip. Its been available to Snapchat+ subscribers for a while – and they been sending 2m messages a day. But it is now going out to the entire user base.

Snapchat has also confirmed a number of new My AI features. They include:

  • Personalisation. Thousands of unique Bitmoji variations
  • Conversations with Friends. @mention My AI and ask a question on behalf of a group
  • Recommendations: My AI surfaces place recommendations from the Snap Map and suggests relevant Lenses
  • Share Snaps: The community can send Snaps to My AI and receive a chat reply
  • Snap Back: Soon Snapchat+ subscribers will be able to Snap My AI and get a unique generative Snap back

The company made a number of other announcements at the Partner Summit. It made changes to its Stories revenue share program so more creators can join. This program places ads within select creators’ Stories, providing recurring cash payouts for their real, ”behind-the-scenes” content.
