SurveyMonkey adds SMS Survey Collector feature

Online survey platform SurveyMonkey has launched an SMS survey collector that will allow its enterprise customers to send surveys to their recipients via text. The company said this will benefit customers wishing to run customer surveys who have mobile numbers, but not email addresses, for their customers.

The survey is sent over SMS via a weblink. Recipients click on the link to respond to the survey in their mobile browser. In time, SurveyMonkey said it hopes to allow the survey to be not just sent, but also completed, via SMS.

It said the SMS feature will work well for real-time polling, with most text messages read within three minutes of receipt. It also expects response rates to be higher than email, since SMS open rates are much higher than email open rates.

The SMS collector is only available to SurveyMonkey Enterprise customers and will be a paid feature.
