Tescos Clubcard goes contactless, revamps app and partners with Uber and Hotels.com

Tesco has revamped its Clubcard loyalty programme, led with the move to a contactless card.

As well as being able to tap the Clubcard to collect points, Tesco has added the ability to access vouchers on its app, so shoppers can present a phone at checkout rather than a paper coupon.

The updated app has also added the ability to sign up for Clubcard, for non-members.

Finally, rounding out the digital-led revamp, Tesco has added Uber and Hotels.com to its Clubcard Reward Partners, meaning members can redeem their points for taxi rides and hotel stays.

“Tesco Clubcard is one of the most uniquely helpful things we do and it’s our way of saying thank you to our customers for shopping with us,” said chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini. “We’ve listened to customers and we’re delighted to have made Clubcard even simpler and easier to use, introducing a brand new contactless card, an upgraded Clubcard app, and added to our list of partners too.

To help push the revamped programme, Tesco has hired 2,500 in-store ‘Clubcard Champions’ to answer customers’ questions about the changes.
