Vodafone campaign invites Snapchatters to connect with Emma Raducanu virtually on Wimbledon’s Centre Court

Vodafone, the Official Connectivity Partner of The Wimbledon tennis tournament, has partnered with Snapchat to launch an augmented reality (AR) experience that invites Snapchatters to take their place on Centre Court.

As part of Vodafone’s #FeelTheConnection summer campaign, which focuses on using connectivity to bring fans different experiences of Wimbledon, the AR activation features British tennis star Emma Raducanu and transports Snapchatters to Centre Court via 5G and Vodafone.

Earlier this year Emma was announced as the brand’s grassroots tennis ambassador as part of Vodafone’s ambition to inspire young people to pick up a racket, get healthy and try tennis as their next sport.

Snapchatters will see the AR Lens on the Snapchat Camera carousel. Once activated, they receive a video call from Emma Raducanu congratulating them on their victory at Wimbledon 2022, complete with crowds cheering in the background and their name on Vodafone placards.

When they turn the camera around, users will find themselves immersed in Wimbledon’s famous Centre Court. They are then invited to “Strike a Pose” dressed as Wimbledon champions with Vodafone branded clothing to share photos with their friends.

The AR lens will run throughout the Wimbledon tournament over the next two weeks.
