youtubemusickeyGoogles YouTube has unveiled its first paid monthly subscription service, YouTube Music Key, which will offer personalised and curated music playlists, officially uploaded full albums and exclusive content.

The service will launch as a free beta initially, offered to YouTubes “biggest music fans”, and run without charge for six months, before launching to general users at $7.99 (£5.06) a month. A subscription will enable users to watch videos while offline and listen to music while other apps work

YouTube Music Key will be available for both the iOS and Android apps, as well as for the online site, and will also include a subscription to the Google Play Music service.

“Thanks to your music videos, remixes, covers, and more, youve made YouTube the biggest music service on the planet,” said the YouTube Music team in a blog post announcing the service. “To turn YouTube into your perfect music service, were launching YouTube Music Key as a beta with our biggest music fans first, and then well bring YouTube Music Key to the world together.”
