Microsoft acquires data privacy and management company BlueTalon

To add a heightened sense of data security and privacy to its enterprise, Microsoft has acquired BlueTalon, a provider of Unified Data Access Control solutions for modern data platforms, including many from Fortune 100 companies. BlueTalon will aid Microsoft in more firmly controlling its data and will diminish any problematic data security blind spots.

“The IP and talent acquired through BlueTalon brings a unique expertise at the apex of big data, security and governance. This acquisition will enhance our ability to empower enterprises across industries to digitally transform while ensuring right use of data with centralized data governance at scale through Azure,” said Rohan Kumar, corporate vice president, Azure Data.

By acquiring BlueTalon, Microsoft hopes to simplify the process of understanding, collecting, and managing data across all its platforms. BlueTalon’s technology will also provide Microsoft – especially Azure – with a data-centric solution to data access management and auditing.

“Together with BlueTalon, we are committed to help enterprises become data-driven companies in a secure and compliant manner. We’re excited to welcome the BlueTalon team to Microsoft and can’t wait to get started,” finished Kumar.
