Snapchat launches Dual Camera mode

Snapchat has launched a Dual Camera mode that enables users to take photos and shoot videos using their front- and back-facing cameras simultaneously. The feature was announced earlier this year and launched yesterday globally for users on iOS using iPhone devices XS/XR or above. It will launch on Android devices in the coming months. At launch, Dual Camera will support Lenses in post-capture on iOS, with capture mode capabilities to follow in the coming months.

Users have the choice of several layouts – including vertical, horizontal, picture in picture, and cutout – plus access to Snapchat creative tools, including music, Stickers, and Lenses.

“We are so excited to bring Dual Camera to our community,” said Jane Meng, Camera Product Manager at Snap. “Snap has long-invested in fun, spontaneous camera experiences, and we really see Dual Camera as an evolution of that commitment. We can’t wait to see how Snapchatters use Dual Camera to capture multiple perspectives at the same time, and give people the chance to be a part of the moment, as it happens.”
